Anyone who genuinely believes in what the Church is and what it is doing can find a place to serve in Church. The Church functions on well-intentioned, hard-working volunteers. So if that’s you, speak with one of the leadership team and discover your place in the Church.
Like all things though, there are ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ ways of doing things, however. We believe things should be done exceptionally well because of who we represent – GOD.
Anyone with a good attitude that wants to get involved will find their place. Healthy boundaries do need to be put in place, though. Anyone who i) can’t work in a team; ii) can’t take correction or direction; or iii) puts themselves or others at risk, should reconsider getting involved.
We have opportunities for service in our kitchen teams, gardening, and cleaning and set-up teams. We also have odd jobs that need to be done, from time to time. All of our ministries have procedures in place. If you feel you could assist, please see the Pastors.
There’s no time like the present; so don’t delay – speak with a Pastor today.
In all service areas in the Church; all help is welcomed, but please remember due to legal, moral and ethical considerations, or some other reason, there may be a required probationary period.
Probation is exactly that - a time for the Church leadership and you to test if a) you are truly suited to the role; or b) if you still want the role.
We make two distinctions in the Church operations. These distinctions are not based on importance. There is no greater importance placed between a pastor and a cleaner, but there certainly is a difference between legal obligations, responsibility, accountability, expectations and functions and abilities of a Pastor, than to a cleaner.
Distinction 1 – Service Areas
Car park, gardening, cleaning, kitchen, etc; these are the sort of areas where your physical ability is needed. These are great areas of service within the Church where you can get involved.
Distinction 2 – Ministry Areas
These are the areas of involvement in the church where your life needs to display ‘Christian example'. Sunday school, sound, media, music pulpit ministry; due to the high level of lifestyle scrutiny of people in these positions, need to have both the physical ability as well as the spiritual character to represent Christ.
It brings a great joy and sense of achievement to volunteer in your Church. It’s an opportunity to take pride in what you do as you serve God and others. From every aspect of the Church, no job is unimportant and if your ‘why’ for getting involved is right, whatever you do makes a big difference – even if seems small to you. Most people in this church are involved in rostered service.
Col 3:23-25 says “23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.
We are all co-workers in the work of the Lord so we do it with a right heart, a right attitude and a desire to do everything excellently.
We look forward to working with you as you get involved in FREE AOG CHURCH.
